Off to the ASG Sewing Conference

If When you read this, I'll be enjoying four days at the American Sewing Guild conference being held in Arlington, VA.  I'll be acting as a general ASG volunteer and classroom volunteer.  I've seen many of these wonderful instructors frequently over the years so I am most looking forward to the vendor hall and the Saturday fashion show.  My photography skills aren't great but I promise pictures.
In the meantime, I'll leave you with pictures for our local chapter fabric challenge.  90 or so of us signed up to receive a yard of fabric (a generous yard since it came from Fabric Mart) to do with what we will. We'll compare finished projects at our local annual meeting in Ocotber.
Here's the fabric....a mid-weight slight stretch woven, 54" wide.
Challenge fabric
What would you do with this piece of fabric?

Hope your weekend is as filled with sewing fun, laughs and inspiration.

  1. What an interesting print! Looks like Venice. I would probably make a fun, full-ish skirt -- whatever I can squeeze out of the yardage! I hope you are having fun at the conference!

    1. Yes, Jean, it's definitely Venice and that's influencing my design decision. Thanks for the good wishes.

  2. Can you supplement a design with other fabric? If not, I'd make a sleeveless shell with a cowl (if the fabric drapes). If no drape, I'd add a tie and casual bow.

    1. I think we can add fabric, slice and dice, dye it or reverse it so that does open up a lot of choices. I like your shell idea, too. No drape so it would need the tie but would look cute with a coordinating bottom.

  3. I think Id make a pair of pants - though the amount of fabric might mean a cropped length. Its very interesting!

  4. Oh how fun! I (finally) JUST joined ASG today - looking forward to all of the news and sharing that goes with it.

Is everyone working with the same fabric? I'm at a bit of a loss beyond the suggestions already given. Look forward to your results!
