Workout Wear

Hmmm, what to wear for my new gym classes?   Two weeks ago I purchased a Groupon offer for 15 classes at a local gym for $15. Now I needed something to wear other than my LL Bean hiking shorts and tops.  I purchased these pants at TJ Maxx for a song and made three different sleeveless tops out of Simplicity 2603, the famous cosy wrap pattern.  Simplicity 2603

These are quick and dirty versions of the front gathered top from that pattern.  I did a cheater's FBA by merely adding more width at the front with an extra inch on the front fold line added to size M.  I turned the armscye edge under and zig zagged it to finish it  Didn't even hem them, just left the hems as cut edges since they won't ravel.   The sleeveless version takes a little more 24 inches of 60 inch fabric; these were remnants and orphan knits in my collection.

I like this style so much that I'm thinking of making a sleeveless summer dress version.  Talk about a versatile pattern!

Yoga class turned out to be ok but I'm also eager to try their Pilates, zumba and "Yogalates" classes.  So far I love the high intensity water aerobics the best.  It's been fun trying some new moves out of the hot summer air and meeting new people.  Hope you are making some new moves, too.
Peace.

  1. What cute exercise tops, and a fabulous way to use those pesky pieces of fabric that are only just big enough to keep. Your tops are so much prettier than most exercise wear.

  2. Lovely tops! And... I just wanted you to know that it's all your fault that I will now be sewing a Magic Pencil Skirt. Not only sewing, but I'll be running a class on that skirt at the sewing shop! Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. These look so much better than the oversize t-shirts I wear. Now if I could just sit like that and still be able to get up LOL
